Commissions
As of May 19th, 2008 - my schedule is booked until August. If you are interested in talking to me about a possible commission, big or small, feel free to contact me via my contact page, and we can discuss timelines and see if we might be able to work something out for you. My artistic services include
- Custom graphics and artwork
- Photomanipulations
- Layered art PSD files that can be utilized for flash templates
- Photo enhancements and repair
- Book covers, CD covers, etc.
If you have a project, but do not see it listed here... feel free to contact me about it!
My artwork is a blend of photography, digital art, and traditional art. I generally begin with a series of photographs which usually include a model of some sort, and some backdrop details to blend in. I am an experienced photographer, and try to incorporate my own 'stock' as much as possible. However, there are a lot of stock alternatives out there, including some fantastic photographers and models that I work with in order to get the 'look' I am after.
Once I have the photographs in place and edited, I then go into programs such as Adobe Photoshop CS2, and Corel Painter IX... and begin creating the digital painting. By combining methods of photomanipulation, hand painting, and textured layering that I have perfected over the past five years, I achieve the look I am after. I use an Intuos3 Wacom tablet, which is like a huge digital sketch pad. This allows me to utilize my traditional art skills in countless ways, in the same way someone might use charcoal on paper, or paint to canvas.
Ultimately, my overactive imagination is really to thank for what I create. I am constantly daydreaming and thinking of new ideas and visions to bring to life. I am a storyteller by nature, and consider my art as the best way to convey the tales I want to tell.
At this time, I do not work with Vector art. There are some ways that I can replicate the vector look, however these images will not function like a true vector would.
To an extent. I have a wide range of my own stock photos that I can use, as well as databases that I belong to. However, if a client has something specific in mind that I cannot find in my database, then it is up to the client to purchase the appropriate stock for me to work with, or to include extra in the budget for me to acquire them.
Stock can vary widely in price, and I will be more than willing to seek out the most affordable solutions for you.. Stock images can be found at places like istockphoto.com, jupiterimages.com, and photostock.com.
Here is a list of the exact things I use.
- Adobe Photshop CS2
- Corel Painter IX
- Wacom Intuos 3 9x12 digital art tablet
- DAZ Studio
- Canon Rebel XTi
- Canon Powershot S3
- HP Scanjet 3800
- Numerous traditional art supplies
I also have an extensive list of stock resources I use, above and beyond my own. Please refer to my credit page to see names and find links to the fantastic people who allow me to utilize their stock.
I do many private commissions over the course of a year. Some people only want a treasured photo restored. Many people simply want a favorite picture incorporated into some sort of whimsical, fantasy scene. Others might have a fantastic idea, but simply cannot produce the artwork themselves. I am open to hearing any and all ideas! The one thing I have to stress, however, is that unless you can provide me with a high resolution, clear photograph (or digital file), it will be difficult for me to create something high quality for you in return. Small pictures, and old pictures both tend to be fuzzy and/or grainy. The bigger, the clearer, the better...though I will always take a look, and will let you know whether I can work with it or not.
I have been hired to work on a number of commercial projects including concert posters, large scale brochure artwork, photoshop tutorials, product shots and product shot enhancement, t-shirt graphics, and layered .psd's that have been incorporated into flash websites. Unlike most artists, I do not juggle a 'day job' with my art. Art *is* my job and my passion, so I am able to give my complete attention to the projects I am hired to do.
For both personal and commercial hire, my pricing varies depending on the complexity of the project. The size and detail of a project, the timeline involved, as well as the stock which may need to be purchased must all be factored in. Once we discuss the details, I can give you a quote as to the cost of the project.
I retain all rights to the artwork I create, unless stated otherwise on the contract I give to my client. For commercial hire, a price can be negotiated to obtain exclusive rights, but otherwise the images are provided under a usage license.
